Construction commences on site of southern hemisphere's tallest residential tower

Construction of Australia 108 has commenced! To celebrate this milestone, a special ground-breaking ceremony was held on Tuesday 8 December 2015, attended by many of the key partners involved in bringing this landmark building to life.

World Class Land’s Mr Koh Wee Seng and David Ng performed the turning of the first sod, a ceremonial activity to mark works starting on the building. They were joined by Australia 108 architect, Nonda Katsalidis of Fender Katsalidis Architects, and Brookfield Multiplex Regional Managing Director, Graham Cottam.

A large number of journalists were also in attendance, with the ground-breaking ceremony broadcast on the evening television news across Victoria. The special event was followed by a light lunch in the Australia 108 display suite.

Internationally-renowned builder Brookfield Multiplex arrived on site in November and is focusing on piling and foundation works for the next five months. To be built over five stages, Australia 108 will be completed in 2020.
